Job Description
- Undertaking geological, structural & engineering geological mapping (outcrop, open pit & underground mine mapping)
- Site management during geotechnical investigation, drill supervision, QAQC during drilling
- Geological, structural, and geotechnical core logging, rockmass characterisation and classification
- Field supervision during ATV/OTV logging, QAQC and interpretation of ATV/OTV logs,
- Geotechnical site investigation for weak rock and shallow superficials (soils), material characterization
- Geotechnical sampling and lab strength testing, QAQC,
- Provide assistance in integrated geological, hydrogeological and civil geotechnical field programme
- Data compilation and management
- Developing structural and geotechnical models, performing geotechnical analysis,
- Geotechnical input to open pit and underground mining studies (scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility and operational studies)
- Preparing technical proposals and reports
Essential Requirements:
- A post-graduate degree in geology/engineering geology/mining engineering
- Two to five years of working experience in mining geotechnics/the rock mechanics sector (in a consultancy or another relevant industrial profession)
- Field experience with structural and geotechnical mapping, geotechnical logging and sample collection
- Experience with engineering software applications (e.g., RocScience, ITASCA, Leapfrog, AutoCAD)
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally
- Effective communication and reporting skills, and a desire to contribute to business/service development
- A Team-player approach with a desire to work collaboratively
