The DB administrator is handling physical and applicative database administration activities supporting end 2 end life cycle of product from database perspective
What will your job look like
You will support the following levels: Physical - responsible for the physical and technical oriented aspects e.g. storage, security, networking and more; Application - you will handle all application-related issues (e.g. queries, users, embedded SQL s etc.)
Ensure database resources are sized accurately and a design strategy is developed to make sure that the database is maintained at a healthy size.
You will ensure availability and performance of multi database and application environments with very large volumes and sizes.
You will perform routine DBA tasks like database maintenance, backups, recovery, table space management, upgrades, etc.
You will execute periodic health checks for databases and recommend changes that should be executed in the production environment to ensure efficient performance.
You will interact and work with multiple infra and IT teams as part of environment setup, maintenance and support
You will work closely with developers, assist them with database structure design as of business needs (e.g. indexes, constraints, integrity)
All you need is...
IMS DBA experience: IMS DB support experience with version 13 onwards. DB Objects - Experience in creating and modifying DBD, PSB, ACB, FMT. Experience with administration of IMS Full Function, HALDB, Fastpath databases. Good knowledge on DBRC, Restore, Reorg, Load IMS DB. Experience in database initialization, forward recovery & building secondary index and pointer checker, checkpoint restart, Fast path, DEDB etc Strong Knowledge of Troubleshooting skills on IMS administration. Usage of IMS utilities (including IBM, BMC) Working Knowledge of RACF as it relates to IMS. Working Knowledge of IMS exit points and routines z/OS - TSO, ISPF, JCL Tools - FileManager, ADBUS Basic knowledge on VSAM,CICS, IMS DC
DB2 DBA on Mainframe(Z/OS): DB Objects - Experience in creating and modifying DB2 objects - Database, Storage Group, Tablespace, Tables, Views, Indexes, etc. Experience with DB2 commands: - Stop/Start Databases, Display command, Cancel thread and Term & Display utility, others. Hands on experience on DB2 utilities: Reorg and Runstat, Backup and Recovery of Table spaces (copy & recover), Repair, Load/Unload utilities. Ability to bind/rebind the Plans/Packages and Granting required accesses to Packages/Plans/Collections. Experience in Database Monitoring. Experience in Database replication - IBM DB2 Data Propagator DB2 administration - Strong Troubleshooting skills DB2 privileges and RACF z/OS - TSO, ISPF, JCL. Tools - DB2 Admin tool, QMF, FileManager, Changeman, ESP.
