Job Summary:
The Media Buying Manager is responsible for planning, negotiating, and executing advertising purchases across various platforms, including digital, print, TV, radio, and out-of-home. This role requires a strong understanding of media channels, vendor management, budget allocation, and performance optimization to achieve maximum ROI. The Media Buying Manager collaborates closely with the marketing and creative teams to ensure campaigns are aligned with the brands goals and target audience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Media Strategy Development:
- Develop and execute comprehensive media buying strategies aligned with marketing objectives and target audience.
- Analyze market trends and audience insights to determine the most effective media mix.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure cohesive campaign messaging across all media channels.
2. Media Planning & Budget Allocation:
- Create detailed media plans, including media types, timing, and spend distribution.
- Allocate and manage media budgets effectively to maximize reach and ROI within set constraints.
- Prepare media flowcharts and schedules to guide campaign execution.
3. Negotiation and Vendor Management:
- Negotiate with media vendors to secure the best ad placements, rates, and added value.
- Maintain relationships with media vendors and stay informed on the latest media offerings and innovations.
- Review vendor contracts and ensure compliance with budget and campaign goals.
4. Campaign Execution & Monitoring:
- Oversee the day-to-day execution of media campaigns, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with quality standards.
- Work with ad trafficking teams to implement campaigns and troubleshoot any issues.
- Monitor campaign performance, adjusting buys as necessary to optimize effectiveness.
5. Performance Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze the performance of media campaigns based on key metrics such as impressions, reach, clicks, conversions, and ROI.
- Provide regular reports on media effectiveness, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
- Use data-driven insights to recommend optimizations for current and future campaigns.
6. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Teamwork:
- Collaborate with creative, social, content, and product marketing teams to ensure a cohesive strategy.
- Act as a media expert within the organization, advising teams on best practices for media spend and channel selection.
- Coordinate with finance to ensure budget compliance and accurate invoicing.
7. Staying Informed on Media Trends:
- Keep up-to-date with the latest media trends, platforms, and technologies.
- Continuously explore new advertising opportunities that could benefit the brands reach and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in media buying, planning, or a similar role, with a track record of managing and optimizing large media budgets.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Deep understanding of digital media metrics and social media platforms like Google, Meta, Snapchat etc.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Power Bi or similar).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in both agency and client-side media buying.
- Certification in digital marketing or media planning (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Blueprint, IAB Certification).
