Research Associate-Global and Local Action

Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) is an energy efficiency ecosystem enabler with a not-for-profit motive. AEEE advocates energy efficiency as a resource and collaborates with industry and government to transform the market for energy-efficient products and services, thereby contributing towards meeting India s goals on energy security, clean energy and climate change. AEEE collaborates with diverse stakeholders such as policymakers, government officials, business and industry, consumers, researchers, and civil society organizations.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy is looking for a dynamic, energetic Research Associate who will work with the Global & Local Action Team. The Research Associate will work on State-level policy analysis with the broader objective to support energy efficiency implementation at state and local levels through evidence-based, unbiased research and cutting-edge analytical approaches. The Research Associate position will be a crucial addition to the existing young and dynamic team at AEEE. The individual is expected to conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis and assessments through primary and secondary research. She/he would actively engage with a variety of stakeholders to advance the adoption of energy efficiency policies in states.

RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AREAS: 1. Drive insightful analysis on energy efficiency at the national and

sub-national level 2. Interact with officials in the State Designated Agency (SDA) in all

states and Union Territories for AEEE programmes state energy efficiency index, data collection, workshops, meetings, etc.

3. Track policy, legislative and legal developments about energy conservation and energy efficiency at the state level and provide regular briefs on matters related to energy efficiency & energy conservation

4. Data collection and management from various sources. Bringing in web-scraping and intelligent data-processing techniques, must be an integral part of all data-driven work

5. Conduct both primary and secondary research using various external information sources

6. Preparation of reports on the existing schemes and programs for energy efficiency in the states

7. Write high-quality research pieces including papers, presentations, policy briefs, and project reports.

environment Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output Ability to carry out activities with a collaborative spirit with the team REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & RELEVANT EXPERIENCE 2-4 years experience in policy research A master s degree with a specialization in energy economics, public

policy, or a related field or a bachelor s degree in engineering, data science, or economics.

Should have a strong research background Experience in dealing with various stakeholders,, state government

officials, public sector, subject matter experts Quantitative skills and qualitative skills for policy analysis and

development of policy frameworks Basic knowledge of energy efficiency and energy policies

SKILLSET EXPECTATIONS Proven analytical and qualitative research abilities with excellent

written and verbal communication, knowledge of any other regional languages is a plus.

Ability to identify technical and policy issues, interpret data, develop quantitative methods, and identify/ develop creative solutions

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, with a general understanding of data analysis techniques

Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
