Introduction: Massive use of Antibiotics in the past 80 years appropriately and inappropriately has lead to Antibiotic resistance. The emergence of resistance to antimicrobial agents (such as penicillin, streptomycin, and others)have been developed to combat the severity and spread of many of infectious diseases caused by microbes. The emergence of resistance to such drugs is a natural biological phenomenon.
Antimicrobial resistance in bacterial pathogenesis a worldwide challenge associated with high morbidity and mortality The emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance among pathogenic bacteria has been a growing problem for public health in recent decades. Resistance of important bacterial pathogens to common antimicrobial therapies and emergence of multidrug-resistant bacteria are increasing at an alarming rate.
Cause of Antibiotic Resistance : Infections caused by resistant microbes often fail to respond to treatment, resulting in prolonged illness and greater risk of death. When treatment fails or response to treatment is slow, the patient remains infective for a longer time. This provides greater opportunities for the resistant strain to spread to other people. The discovery of antimicrobials in the previous century was followed by spectacular gains in human health and life expectancy. The emergence of resistance to these drugs is now so widespread that it threatens to be weaken.

It exists on all continents. It affects both low and high income countries. It affects both strong and weak health systems. Each year it cause:
More than 38,000 deaths in Thailand
More than 23,000 deaths in the USA
25,000 deaths in the European Union
In South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh) one newborn child dies every 5 minutes from bloodstream infections (sepsis) because the antibiotics given are not effective due to bacterial resistance
