Category Strategy & Growth:
- Define and implement the growth strategy for the grocery category, including key subcategories like fresh produce, pantry staples, dairy, and beverages.
- Stay updated on industry trends, buyer behaviors, and competitor strategies to identify opportunities.
- Set and achieve performance goals, including revenue, margin, and customer satisfaction metrics.
Assortment Planning:
- Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and brands to curate a comprehensive and high-quality product assortment.
- Optimize the category selection to meet seasonal demands, regional preferences, and emerging trends.
- Ensure availability of essential items while minimizing inventory gaps and excess.
Pricing & Promotion:
- Develop competitive pricing strategies to attract and retain buyers while ensuring category profitability.
- Plan and execute discounts, offers, and campaigns to drive engagement and sales.
- Monitor the performance of promotions and adjust strategies based on data insights.
Merchandising & Buyer Experience:
- Work with product and design teams to ensure intuitive category navigation and visually appealing product displays.
- Optimize product rankings, filters, and recommendations for enhanced buyer discoverability.
- Drive initiatives to simplify the grocery shopping experience for buyers.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Monitor and analyze key metrics, such as sales, conversion rates, and inventory turnover, to drive decision-making.
- Maintain category performance dashboards and provide insights to stakeholders.
- Use data to identify gaps, forecast demand, and refine strategies.
Vendor & Supply Chain Management:
- Build strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely procurement and fulfillment.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and margins for mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels, reduce wastage, and enhance delivery speed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with marketing, analytics, product, and customer service teams to align on category goals and execution plans.
- Ensure smooth coordination for launches, promotions, and issue resolution.
Experience:
- 5-8 years of experience in category management, buying, or merchandising roles, preferably in grocery or FMCG.
- Proven track record in driving category growth and profitability in e-commerce or app-based platforms.
Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in tools like Excel, SQL, and BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with inventory and supply chain management systems.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or a related field. MBA or equivalent is a plus.
- Experience in managing grocery categories for e-commerce platforms or apps.
- Knowledge of demand forecasting, perishables handling, and vendor network optimization.
- Exposure to digital marketing and performance optimization for online grocery.
