Job Description
Lead and direct the product development teams for all new product development programs in accordance with project timelines, budgets and ensure successful execution till series production.
Define and implement long term strategies and plans for the PD function. Enables the teams to set up best practices of design and development of new product. Creates engineering standards, and product specific strategies to reach organization goals and business objectives.
Leads/interfaces effectively with internal /external customers and suppliers on product development topics enabling a seamless execution of the product development.
Build the talent and the required competencies and capabilities for the PD function.
Ensure the talent mapping and identifying the training needs of the talent and build a strong engineering talent pool so that organization is self sufficient in terms of engineering expertise.
Responsible for creating robust design processes and standards. Roll out all kinds of design standards, testing standards, engineering standards, creating lessons learnt documents etc, enabling a very sound engineering principles
Should be capable of Planning the require infrastructure, IT tools, Simulation tools, Testing equipment, Lab infrastructure and keeping an eye on latest techniques of verification and validation.
Closely associate with the business development, sales and marketing teams to understand the latent needs of the customers and work along with them towards expanding the account and relationships.
Participate in all techno commercial discussions for technical trade-offs, preparing the technical proposals, arriving at the BOM cost and support with regards to the initial technical due diligence of customers.
Effective participation with advance engineering/R&D teams to enable the right technology development and extend an arm for hand holding the technologies /innovation projects.
Closely integrate with cross-functional teams like Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain (Operations) in order to meet the project delivery and meet up with timelines.
Track industry trends and developments in key areas of NPI and Product engineering
Concisely and effectively communicate strategic and tactical execution status to executive management and cross functional teams
Understand PI Operations systems, processes, manufacturing costs, cost-reduction roadmap, production throughput, product flows, capacity requirements and capacity roadmap.
Bring a global perspective and global management experience to assure an integrated, consistent, and concurrent engineering process to program development and execution - from early design to integration and testing.
Education & Experience:
- B Tech/BE in Electrical/Electronic or comparable study paths (M Tech is an added advantage)
Candidate must have 15-20 years of experience in design and development of Li-ion battery pack
Experience in Virtual validation (CAE) and proto verification is an added advantage
Good in battery pack optimization methodology to do VAVE study
Good in review of CAE reports is an added advantage
Competencies:
Thoughtful, critical and perceptive analytical skills.
A genuine curiosity for understanding the system.
Detail oriented individual with strong technical and communications skills to perform to high standards.
Experience in leading the team in engineering activities
Teamwork and collaboration.
Respect for procedures and standards
Understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA for New Product Development.
