Job Description: Unit Head of Ophthalmology Chain
Position Overview:
The Unit Head will oversee the operations, strategy, and leadership of a specific unit within an ophthalmology chain in India. This individual will ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, adherence to best practices, and achievement of business goals. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership qualities, strategic vision, and operational expertise within the healthcare industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficient workflow, optimal resource allocation, and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Team Leadership: Lead a multidisciplinary team including 10-11 full-time ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and support staff, ensuring high morale and productivity within a total team strength of approximately 100 people.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive the unit's growth and profitability, handling an overall revenue target of approximately - X crores per month.
- Patient Care Quality: Ensure high standards of patient care, monitor clinical outcomes, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the unit's budget, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. Responsible for overseeing the profit and loss (P&L) of the center.
- Compliance and Regulations: Ensure the unit adheres to all healthcare regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with senior management, local healthcare authorities, and other stakeholders to promote the unit's interests.
- Marketing and Business Development: Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance visibility, patient acquisition, and service expansion.
- Sales and Operations Management: Oversee sales operations, including pharmacy and optical sales, to drive revenue growth.
- Technology Integration: Promote and facilitate the use of modern diagnostic and treatment technologies to keep the unit competitive.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hospital Administration, Business Management, or a related healthcare field. Clinical qualifications (e.g., MBBS, MS Ophthalmology) are a plus.
- Experience: 8+ years in a healthcare management role, with at least 3 years in a leadership position within a specialty hospital or clinic.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Analytical Abilities: Proven ability to analyze complex situations and make strategic decisions.
- Problem-Solving: Aptitude for resolving operational and administrative issues.
- Knowledge of Industry Standards: Familiarity with NABH standards, healthcare regulations, and patient care protocols.
Work Environment:
- The role requires a blend of administrative duties, team interactions, and liaising with senior management.
- This may include occasional travel for training and meetings.
