Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development sessions with team members.
Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages innovation and growth.
Project Management:
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and scope.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Technical Guidance:
Provide technical leadership and direction to the engineering team.
Participate in architectural discussions and guide the team in making informed technical decisions.
Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and incorporate them into the team s processes.
Process Improvement:
Develop and refine engineering processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and collaboration.
Implement and monitor KPIs to assess the team s performance and drive continuous improvement.
Advocate for and implement Agile methodologies where appropriate.
Resource Management:
Manage resource allocation to ensure optimal team productivity and project success.
Identify staffing needs and participate in the recruitment and hiring process.
Oversee the onboarding and training of new team members.
Stakeholder Communication:
Act as a primary point of contact between the engineering team and other departments.
Provide regular updates on project status, challenges, and achievements to senior management and other stakeholders.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
Broader HR Responsibility:
Take HR responsibility for a wider group of engineers, including those who may have a dotted-line reporting relationship to other managers.
Ensure their professional development, alignment with company objectives, and foster a unified team culture.
What You Will Bring As A Engineering Manager II
Bachelor s or master s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
Proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and project management tools.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to balance technical expertise with business acumen.
Proven experience working with US based business teams
Excellent written and communication skills in English language
Ability to overlap 2-3 hours with Pacific Standard Time (PST) core US business hours
Technical experience:
Experience with JavaScript and its frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, etc.)
Proficiency with SQL, preferably PostgreSQL
Production JVM language experience, preferably Scala
Production Kubernetes experience
Development Tools: Experience with development tools such as Git, Jenkins, Docker, etc.
Cloud Platforms: Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus
Database Management / CRM: Experience with relational and non-relational databases
Telephony and VoIP Expertise : Experience working with Twilio or similar telephony/VoIP platforms is a plus.
Knowledge of VoIP/Telephony Concepts : Understanding of VoIP protocols, telephony systems, and related technologies.
CRM and Task Management Applications : Experience working with CRM systems, task management software, and their integrations.
