- Overview:. o9Solutions Inc. is looking for an experienced tax expert, reporting to the Corporate Controller, to own and facilitate the accurate preparation and filing of our company's state and federal tax forms, as well as assuring the compliance and timely filings of tax returns on a global basis.
- The ideal candidate is a team player who creates and implements tax plans and works with the accounting and leadership teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and potential areas of risk.
- The Tax Director will ensure compliance with state, federal and international tax law through a series of systems and system controls that are designed to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- They will monitor current and impending changes to tax regulations and make the appropriate updates to policies and strategies, as well as the Company's transfer pricing policies.
- The ideal candidate is single minded in their pursuit of ensuring compliance and achieves this goal through optimizing reporting procedures and driving the successful function of the tax team.
Responsibilities:.
- Facilitate and manage third party tax providers and consultants with the preparation and review of company tax returns.
- Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns and other business-related filings, including US sales tax returns.
- Preparation of the annual and quarterly consolidated US GAAP income tax provision (ASC 740), including current and deferred tax calculations and the preparation of tax footnotes and other income tax disclosures to be included in the Company's annual and quarterly financial statements.
- Maintain internal control procedures (SOX and other regulatory requirements) for tax accounting and ensure processes are properly documented and operating accordingly.
- Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in Company tax procedures.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary international, federal, and state taxes.
- Provide oversight into minimizing tax risk in regard to acquisitions, mergers, and other business matters.
Manage members of the tax team as they prepare components of the company's US federal income tax return and other tax documents.
- Coordinate with third party tax providers and consultants with respect to all global tax filings, tax support initiatives, etc.
- Plan for and develop overall return calendar and coordinate timing and inputs with tax team.
- Manage and facilitate IRS and state income, sales, and other tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
- Provide support with various internal audits and special tax related projects.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Extensive US federal and state corporate tax knowledge.
- Understanding of international taxes and how they incorporate into a US GAAP (ASC 740) income tax provision.
- Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations.
- Familiarity with US federal, state, and local reporting requirements, as well as a high-level understanding of international tax reporting and filing requirements.
- Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
- Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks and the tasks of other tax team members.
- Ability to work well independently, as well as the ability to collaborate well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- We are looking for a candidate with 15+ years of experience in a corporate tax manager or public accountant role.
- Preferred candidates have a current CPA (or equivalent) license and a master's degree in an accounting discipline.
- The Tax Director must be proficient with the following software/tools:. Strong skills and experience with Word, Google Mail, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, NetSuite, and Excel.
