A transplant nurse is a specialized registered nurse who works closely with patients undergoing organ transplantation, coordinating their care throughout the entire process, from pre-transplant evaluation to post-transplant monitoring, including educating patients and donors about the procedure, preparing them for surgery, assisting surgeons during the transplant, and monitoring for potential complications like organ rejection; essentially managing all aspects of a patient's transplant journey while collaborating with the transplant team.
