Category Head FMCG
The role will encompass the following responsibilities :
1. Product Assortment and Inventory Management - Sourcing, Buying, Stocking, Replenishment, Merchandising, & New Product Introduction.
2. People Management - Manage output of Category Managers and Purchasers on the team.
3. Pricing & Promotions.
4. Customer Satisfaction - Product Availability & Quality.
5. Cross-functional Management - Work with Product Management, Operations, Marketing, and other functions.
6. Vendor & Brand Relationships.
The successful Category Head must be able to:
- Act as the business owner for his or her assigned categories, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact our business (this entails owning forecasting, monitoring, understanding and reporting on the category, along with responsibility for driving strategic projects and promotions to achieve business objectives).
- Have a thorough understanding of the industry, seasonality and latest consumer trends, and continually monitor competitor/industry developments.
- Maximize long-term business growth with a firm view on profitability.
- Have a complete understanding of customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to deliver website and mobile app features that provide customers with an unparalleled online shopping experience.
- Build and manage vendor relationships - manage supplier/partner contracts, manage day-to-day relationships, and negotiate and secure best business terms.
- Create business plans for new opportunities and develop and execute project plans for the launch of new products, incorporating merchandising and pricing strategies.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines.
- Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets.
- Job involves periodic domestic travel.
Qualifications:
- MBA is strongly preferred but not mandatory
- A minimum of 15 years' experience in Retail Management or FMCG brand business with a solid understanding of retail categories.
- Understanding of e-commerce is strongly preferred.
- Well-developed skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in SAP ERP preferred but not mandatory.
