Mandatory Skills :

Routing and Switching :

- Hands-on experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches.

- Proficiency in routing protocols : OSPF, BGP, EIGRP.

- Understanding of VLANs, STP, LACP, and other Layer 2/3 technologies.

Firewall Management :

- Extensive experience in managing and troubleshooting Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet firewalls.

- In-depth understanding of firewall policies, rule creation, NAT, VPN (IPSec, SSL VPN), and content filtering.

- Experience with high availability configurations on firewalls.

Security Concepts :

- Strong understanding of network security principles, threats, and vulnerabilities.

- Knowledge of security best practices and hardening techniques.

- Familiarity with security protocols (e.g., SSH, HTTPS, SNMP).

Technical Troubleshooting :

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network and security-related issues.

- Ability to use network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

About the Job :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced L2 Network Security Engineer / Firewall Engineer to join our dynamic team in Chennai. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our network security infrastructure, primarily focusing on Cisco routers and switches, and Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet firewalls. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of our network environment. This position requires working in rotational shifts to provide 24x7 support.

Responsibilities :

Firewall Management :

- Configure, implement, and manage firewall policies and rules on Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet firewalls based on security requirements.

- Monitor firewall logs and alerts to identify potential security incidents.

- Perform regular firewall rule reviews and optimization.

- Troubleshoot firewall-related connectivity issues.

- Implement and manage VPN solutions (IPSec and SSL VPN).

Routing and Switching :

- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches.

- Implement and maintain routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).

- Manage VLANs, STP, and other Layer 2 technologies.

- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.

Security Operations :

- Respond to security incidents and participate in incident handling and resolution.

- Implement and maintain security best practices and hardening guidelines.

- Perform security assessments and vulnerability analysis.

- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure overall network security.

Documentation :

- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, security policies, and troubleshooting procedures.

Support and Maintenance :

- Provide L2/L3 level support for network and security-related issues.

- Perform regular maintenance tasks, including software upgrades and patching.

- Participate in on-call rotation as required.

Qualifications and Skills :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Relevant certifications such as CCNA Security, CCNP Security, PCNSA, PCNSE, NSE4, or NSE5 are highly desirable.

- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in managing and troubleshooting network security devices and technologies.

- Proven experience with Cisco routers and switches configuration and troubleshooting.

- Extensive experience with Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet firewall management.

- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.

- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Flexibility to work in rotational shifts (24x7 environment).

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
