Neeyamo - Network Engineer - Routing & Switching (2-4 yrs)

Role Description :

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of networking equipment and services.

This role will ensure that the company's network infrastructure operates efficiently and securely.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of networking protocols, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience with both hardware and software components of network systems.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, configure, and deploy networking solutions for the company, including LAN, WAN, and VPN systems.

- Set up and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

- Work with other teams to ensure seamless integration of network systems with the company's IT infrastructure.

- Monitor network performance to ensure high levels of availability, speed, and reliability.

- Analyze network traffic patterns and optimize configurations to improve performance and minimize downtime.

- Perform regular network audits to ensure network health and capacity requirements are met.

- Provide second- and third-line technical support for network-related issues, ensuring swift resolution of network faults.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking issues across the infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

- Maintain detailed logs of network incidents, responses, and resolutions.

- Implement and manage network security protocols to protect the network from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.

- Configure firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

- Regularly test network security and identify areas for improvement.

- Perform routine network maintenance, including firmware and software updates, hardware replacements, and system backups.

- Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions, ensuring the network infrastructure can handle future business needs.

- Work closely with other IT teams to ensure the network infrastructure supports all business operations effectively.

- Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.

- Provide training and guidance to junior network staff as required.

- Liaise with vendors and service providers for network-related services, including procurement, maintenance, and support.

- Evaluate new network technologies and solutions that could benefit the company.

Qualifications & Skills :

- Bachelor's / master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or other relevant networking certifications are highly desirable.

Experience :

- 2-4 years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.

- Experience with network design, configuration, and troubleshooting for LAN/WAN environments.

- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios) and network performance analysis.

- Experience with firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches, and other networking hardware.

Technical Skills :

- Proficiency with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, BGP, and other networking protocols.

- Hands-on experience with networking hardware (Cisco, Juniper, etc.) and software solutions.

- Knowledge of network security protocols and practices (e., IPSec, SSL, RADIUS).

- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and tools (e., AWS, Azure) is a plus.

- Experience with Wi-Fi configurations and wireless networking technologies
