Position Title : Network Security Engineer

Job Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Network Security Engineer with expertise in Palo Alto technologies to join our IT security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting the organization's network security infrastructure. The primary focus will be on safeguarding enterprise networks through the configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of Palo Alto Firewalls and other security technologies.
The role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, firewall configurations, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and security best practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data across internal and external networks.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Palo Alto Firewall Configuration & Management :
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls across the organization's network infrastructure.
- Design and implement security policies, NAT policies, VPN configurations, and other firewall rules to protect the network from unauthorized access and threats.
- Perform regular updates and patches on Palo Alto devices to maintain security and compliance standards.
- Manage and troubleshoot Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN for remote users, ensuring secure connectivity.
2. Network Security Implementation :
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect the network infrastructure and ensure the organization's compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Configure advanced threat protection, URL filtering, and application control on Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
- Implement and manage security technologies, including Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and endpoint security solutions.
- Perform regular vulnerability assessments and recommend solutions to mitigate risks.
3. Monitoring & Incident Response :
- Monitor network security alerts and events to proactively identify and respond to potential security incidents.
- Analyze and correlate logs from Palo Alto firewalls, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, and other network security devices to identify anomalous behaviors.
- Investigate, escalate, and respond to security incidents, including malware infections, DDoS attacks, and network breaches.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve security incidents in a timely and efficient manner.
4. Collaboration & Documentation :
- Work closely with other IT teams (network, systems, and application teams) to ensure secure and optimized network architecture.
- Document firewall configurations, network security policies, and procedures to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base.
- Provide training and support to internal staff on security best practices, particularly around the usage of Palo Alto security tools.
5. Continuous Improvement & Learning :
- Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats to continually improve the organization's security posture.
- Participate in network security projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing system security, scalability, and performance.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in network security engineering with a focus on Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security solutions.
- Strong understanding of IP networking concepts, routing and switching, network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.), and VPN technologies.
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Panorama, GlobalProtect, and other related solutions.
- Familiarity with intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPN technologies, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network security issues across multiple platforms and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) certification.
- Experience with automation and scripting for network security tasks (Python, PowerShell, or similar).
- Familiarity with cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) and securing cloud-based infrastructures.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (GDPR, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, etc.).
Skills & Competencies :
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex security issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for staying ahead of emerging threats in network security.
