Home Health & Hospice - Medical Coder

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our team, specializing in Home Health and Hospice services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding practices, specifically tailored to home health and hospice care. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of the latest coding standards, and the ability to ensure accurate coding for billing and reimbursement purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate and appropriate coding of diagnoses and procedures for Home Health & Hospice services.
Assign correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes according to established coding guidelines and procedures.
Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative teams to resolve coding discrepancies or issues.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations regarding coding practices.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, medical terminology, and the latest industry standards.
Generate accurate reports for billing and reimbursement purposes.
Assist in audits and provide coding support during quality reviews.
Stay current on changes in Home Health and Hospice regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
Requirements:

Proven experience in medical coding, specifically in Home Health and Hospice care.
In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Excellent communication skills to interact with clinical and administrative teams.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
Familiarity with medical software and coding tools used in Home Health and Hospice care.
Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing procedures, and insurance claim processing is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in coding for Home Health & Hospice services.
Familiarity with OASIS documentation and its role in Home Health coding.
Strong understanding of hospice-specific coding rules, including hospice diagnosis and level of care criteria.
