Job Title:

Senior Resident / Attending / Associate Consultant Liver Transplant Anaesthesia

Role Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for providing anaesthesia services in liver transplant surgeries and perioperative critical care management. This role requires expertise in managing complex cases, optimizing patient outcomes, and working in a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preoperative Assessment:

• Conduct detailed preoperative evaluation of liver transplant patients.
• Optimize medical conditions before surgery in collaboration with hepatologists and intensivists.
• Explain anaesthesia procedures, risks, and expectations to patients and families.

2. Intraoperative Anaesthesia Management:

• Administer anaesthesia for liver transplant surgeries using advanced techniques.
• Monitor patients vital signs, haemodynamics, fluid balance, and ventilation throughout the procedure.
• Manage massive blood loss, coagulation abnormalities, and haemodynamic instability.
• Utilize transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and advanced haemodynamic monitoring.
• Coordinate with transplant surgeons for smooth intraoperative care.

3. Postoperative & Critical Care Management:

• Provide intensive care management in the post-transplant period.
• Manage ventilatory support, haemodynamic stability, and analgesia.
• Diagnose and treat postoperative complications, including graft dysfunction, sepsis, and multi-organ failure.
• Work closely with critical care and hepatology teams for seamless patient recovery.

4. Research & Academic Contributions:

• Participate in ongoing research projects in liver transplant anaesthesia and critical care.
• Supervise and train residents, fellows, and junior faculty in transplant anaesthesia techniques.
• Contribute to conferences, publications, and academic presentations.

5. Quality & Safety Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to hospital infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Maintain high standards in anaesthesia practices for transplant patients.
• Document and analyze transplant anaesthesia outcomes for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: MD/DNB in Anaesthesia or equivalent qualification.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in transplant anaesthesia or hepatobiliary anaesthesia (for Associate Consultant role).
• Certifications: Fellowship or training in liver transplant anaesthesia (preferred).
• Skills Required:
• Expertise in vascular access, invasive monitoring, and coagulation management.
• Proficiency in transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).
• Strong decision-making and crisis management skills.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure, team-based environment.
