This includes formulation development, stability studies, regulatory submission (especially under AYUSH guidelines), and successful out-licensing strategies. The position requires expertise in phytochemistry, new product development (NPD), and the navigation of regulatory guidelines to ensure products meet both quality standards and regulatory requirements for commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulation Development & Optimization:
    • Lead the design and development of herbal-based formulations, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and efficacy standards.
    • Conduct pre-formulation research, including active ingredient selection, dosage form, and formulation optimization.
    • Apply expertise in phytochemistry to incorporate the bioactive components of herbal ingredients for maximum efficacy in the final product.
    • Develop and optimize stable formulations across various delivery formats, including tablets, capsules, syrups, oils, creams, and tinctures.
    • Conduct stability testing to assess product shelf life and storage conditions.
  • Phytochemistry and Product Analysis:
    • Lead the analysis of herbal ingredients and their bioactive compounds to ensure their quality and consistency in product formulations.
    • Ensure that the extraction, purification, and incorporation of phytochemicals are effective and scientifically sound.
    • Collaborate with the R&D team to conduct quality control testing and bioavailability studies.
    • Keep abreast of developments in phytochemistry, including advances in ingredient sourcing, extraction methods, and new herbal compound discoveries.
  • New Product Development (NPD):
    • Drive the innovation and development of new herbal products to meet market demands and consumer needs.
    • Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify gaps in the market and opportunities for new products.
    • Manage the product development life cycle, from ideation and formulation through to pilot batch production and final product launch.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs) to ensure the successful launch and commercial viability of new products.
    • Ensure that product development timelines are met and that projects adhere to budgets.
  • Regulatory Affairs and AYUSH Registration:
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and standards, specifically those required for the registration of herbal products under AYUSH regulations (Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India).
    • Prepare and submit complete product dossiers, including technical documentation, safety data, efficacy studies, and GMP certifications for AYUSH registration.
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure timely product approvals and address any regulatory concerns.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing regulatory frameworks for herbal products and proactively adapt to any new compliance requirements.
    • Support the team in ensuring that all herbal products meet GMP standards and relevant national/international guidelines.
  • Out-Licensing and Partnership Management:
    • Support the out-licensing process by creating comprehensive product dossiers, conducting scientific evaluations, and providing technical expertise for prospective licensing partners.
    • Prepare and negotiate licensing agreements, ensuring all product specifications, intellectual property rights, and commercial terms are clearly defined.
    • Collaborate with business development teams to identify new licensing opportunities, both locally and globally.
    • Support global partners by providing formulation assistance, documentation, and product updates.
    • Manage and nurture relationships with existing licensing partners to ensure mutual success.
  • End-to-End Product Phases:
    • Oversee the entire product development cycle, from initial concept, formulation, stability, and regulatory approval to commercialization and post-market surveillance.
    • Manage product life cycles and ensure ongoing quality monitoring of herbal products in the market.
    • Conduct post-launch monitoring to ensure product quality and performance in the market, making improvements as necessary.
    • Contribute to the product's continuous improvement by working on formulation tweaks and developing new, enhanced versions based on consumer feedback.
