About The Role:

Kong Konnect is an API management platform designed to help organizations manage, secure, and orchestrate their APIs and microservices. It provides a unified solution for API lifecycle management, enabling developers and businesses to deploy, monitor, and optimize their services efficiently across hybrid or multi-cloud environments. Some of the key features of Kong Konnect include:

Managed API Gateways which offer features like routing, load balancing, and service discovery.

Developer portal that allows teams to document APIs and expose them to internal or external developers through a customizable portal.

Seamless deployment across on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environments.

Analytics monitoring, offering real-time insights into API performance and usage patterns for better decision-making.

Security governance mechanisms to maintain a robust API infrastructure.

Within Kong Konnect, Logs and Traces are essential for monitoring, debugging, and understanding the behavior of APIs and microservices. They provide observability into how requests flow through the system, helping identify bottlenecks, errors, or performance issues.

This role is an engineering leadership role of the Logs Traces team in Bangalore, India.

This opportunity requires you to work from our office in Bangalore, India in a hybrid manner with three days in the office and two days working from home. As a leader, we expect you to maximize your time with the team and deliver outcomes efficiently.

What Youll Do:

Build and lead a high-performing engineering team that consistently delivers results.
Attract, mentor, and retain top engineering talent, fostering growth and development across Kongs engineering organization.
Own the end-to-end technical success of the Logs Traces features in Kong Konnect, delivering industry-leading quality, performance, and reliability.
Architect and operate software systems to maintain 99.99 % SLA or higher reliability.
Play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction for the Logs Traces features by driving innovation.
Collaborate closely with product leadership to define and refine strategy, roadmap, and objectives for Logs Traces, ensuring alignment between engineering efforts and business goals.
Oversee agile workstreams to ensure the timely execution of projects and initiatives.
Interface directly with customers and field teams to understand use cases, pain points, and opportunities for innovation; incorporate this feedback into product improvements.
Own key objectives that directly impact business outcomes, contributing to enhanced revenue growth for Kong.

What Youll Bring:

Minimum 2+ years of experience in Engineering Management, building and leading high-performing teams.
5+ years of experience in SaaS development, specifically operating software with 99.99 % reliability or higher.
Strong expertise in high-volume data systems in public cloud network architectures.
Extensive experience developing and supporting large-scale SaaS platforms, with proficiency in containerization (e.g., Docker) and Kubernetes (K8s).
Hands-on experience designing, prototyping, building, and debugging microservices architectures and distributed data systems.
Expertise in monitoring and observability practices to ensure high availability, resilience, and performance of services.
Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field.
