Job Description
- Undergraduate or Master s degree in Geospatial Sciences, Geography, Agricultural Science, or Engineering with specialization in Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics.
- For undergraduate degree holders, a minimum of 2 years of experience in geospatial data analysis and decision support systems, with specialization in ARCGIS and DSSAT.
- Experience managing geospatial databases and creating thematic maps using ARCGIS or similar GIS software for crop yield prediction and environmental mapping.
- Proven experience (Publications) in integrating geospatial data with decision support tools, including familiarity with crop modeling software like DSSAT.
- Previous experience in coordinating field data collection, managing student projects, and preparing comprehensive reports and presentations.
- Geospatial Data Analysis and Mapping: Manage geospatial databases using ARCGIS for crop yield predication, water, soil and vegetation mapping based on the priority of the project. Create thematic maps and visualizations for decision-making.
- Decision Support Tools Integration: Integrate geospatial data with Decision Support Systems. Investigate crop modelling softwares like DSSAT for main crops of GBL/KIAAR. Optimize data workflows and provide insights for sustainable agriculture. Conduct training sessions to enhance technology adoption.
- Project Coordination and Reporting: Coordinate field data collection, student project coordination, remote sensing, and lab work. Prepare reports and presentations summarizing project findings.
- Ability to conduct training sessions to promote the adoption of new technologies and tools, with strong skills in developing and delivering educational content.
- Strong organizational skills for coordinating multiple aspects of projects, including field data collection, lab work, and student involvement, with a focus on timely and accurate reporting.
