Job Description
The main purpose of this role is to manage and be responsible for checking and verification of detailed signalling designs and support / manage signalling projects. Provide technical support, mentoring and advice as required in support of the business. Ensure that all work is delivered in accordance with technical, safety and quality standards.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- Significant Experience (10-15 Years) in all aspects of Signalling Design and Implementation of Signalling Systems including but not limited to:
- Production, Checking and Approval of feasibility studies, Signalling Functional Specifications, Concept Designs, outline and detailed Signalling Principles Designs and calculations.
- Must hold IRSE License for Signalling Principles Design Engineers 1.1.550D and Signalling Verifiers 1.1.160v3 at CRE Level, or equivalent experience as a minimum.
- Design, Checking and Verifying of Signalling Circuits, Signalling Plans, Power Calculations, Control Tables, Bonding Plans, Location / REB / Relay Rooms Designs, Data
- A full understanding of the Engineering life cycle and its processes.
- knowledge of current signalling design processes.
- Extensive knowledge of Rail standards (Network Rail / Australia / NZ).
- Able to lead the production team of signalling designers, can resolve all the queries raised by them with his knowledge and experience, and act as an independent verifier of the designs produced.
- Able to provide resource estimates to the Design Manager.
- Able to act as a Mentor to members if the signalling design staff as directed.
- Able to communicate effectively and establish good relationships with other team members and with other disciplines and peers.
- Professional qualification to Chartered Engineer level.
- Knowledge of contractual conditions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent understanding of Task, Time and People Management.
- Knowledge of RRI, SSI, Microlok, ETCS, CBTC systems
Qualifications Requirements:
- Engineering Degree or equivalent preferably electronics or electrical. Diploma holders with relevant experience will also be considered.
- IRSE membership will be an added qualification.
- Proficiency in MicroStation software.
