Role & responsibilities
Equipment Management:
1. Overseeing the installation, calibration, and maintenance of biomedical equipment used in patient care, diagnostics, and treatment.
2. Conducting regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure all medical devices meet regulatory standards and function optimally.
3. Developing and implementing equipment replacement plans based on lifecycle analysis and technological advancements.
Staff Supervision and Training:
1. Directly supervising a team of biomedical technicians and engineers, delegating tasks, and providing guidance and support.
2. Organizing training sessions and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of biomedical staff regarding equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
3. Conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback to foster professional growth.
4. Attending the equipment breakdown calls on site.
Regulatory Compliance:
1. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines governing the maintenance and use of medical equipment, such as those set forth by regulatory bodies like the AERB and PCPNDT.
2. Collaborating with other departments, such as Quality Assurance and Compliance, to develop and implement policies and procedures related to biomedical equipment management.
Vendor Relations:
1. Establishing and maintaining relationships with biomedical equipment vendors and service providers to renew contracts, resolve technical issues, and ensure timely delivery of services and supplies.
2. Evaluating vendor proposals and products to make informed purchasing decisions based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Project Management:
1. Participating in projects related to the implementation of new medical technologies, equipment upgrades, or facility expansions.
2. Coordinating with cross-functional teams, including clinicians, IT professionals, and facility managers, to ensure seamless integration of biomedical systems into existing workflows.
Emergency Response:
1. Developing contingency plans and protocols for responding to equipment failures or emergencies, ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.
2. Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance during critical situations to minimize downtime and mitigate risks.
Required Skill Sets:
1. In-depth knowledge of biomedical equipment and devices commonly used in healthcare settings.
2. Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and specifications.
3. Leadership qualities to effectively supervise and motivate a team of biomedical technicians and engineers.
4. Adaptability to evolving healthcare environments, technological innovations, and organizational priorities
5. Strong communication skills to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences
Preferred candidate profile
Compulsory Qualification: Compulsory Qualification: B.E. (Biomedical) / Diploma in Medical Electronics / M.Sc. Instrumentation
Preferred Qualification: Any Masters Degree in Healthcare Management from reputed institute
