ION Analytics is looking for an analyst to join the Insights team to source and explore cutting edge market trends and to produce regular periodic reports.
You will support our private data operations by making connections in the M&A market, processing and analyzing data to generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, and assist with overall content creatin initiatives across the wider Insights team.
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned, you will also be expected to reach out and maintain regular relations with journalists and market participants.
You should have an analytical mind with the ability to both manipulate data and communicate the findings well. An interest in macro and market events is essential, as be comfortable with working across a wide variety of datasets.
You will work on a collaborative desk and receive support and on-the-job training, enabling you to analyze markets with the long-term view of becoming an M&A expert.

EU Private Equity round-up
Round-up of the largest pending deals and auction situations involving private equity houses over the last week
Process: Browsing one week intel (150intell approx.); Select stories related to PE and active process; Categorize into new, current and small situations; Draft short intro referring to relevant intel.

US Deal pipeline
Report that compiles market intelligence from the week prior on auction processes that have been active over the last six months. It also compiles a shortlist of late-stage origination
Process: Going through intel and identify active auctions over the last 6m

Data Requests
Support the editorial team with data and visual requests to support trends
Process: Pulling data from Designer, building charts and identifying main data trends

1. M&A Overview:
Provide a comprehensive analysis of M&A within a specific region or sector
Highlight key deals and trends
2. Data Analysis:
Examine large amount of datasets and interpret them in the context of the broader macroeconomic environment
3. Data Visualization:
Transform datasets into clear, insightful charts and graphs
Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Required
Economics / Accounting / Finance / M&A Research background
Comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite
A self-starter attitude with a cooperative approach
An investigative mind and attention to detail
An interest in financial markets and macro events
Excellent time management and communication skills
