Deisgn Engineer

Responsibilities / Duties (Functional):

1. Piping System Design:

- Develop and design piping systems based on project requirements, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

- Determine the most efficient and safe layout of pipes, supports, valves, and other piping components.

- Select appropriate piping materials and sizes based on the projects needs and standards.

2. 3D Modeling and Drafting:

- Create detailed 3D models of piping systems using software like AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor or similar tools.

- Generate isometric drawings, general arrangement drawings, and other detailed drawings required for fabrication and installation.

3. Stress Analysis:

- Perform stress analysis on piping systems to ensure the system can handle thermal expansion, pressure, and other forces.

4. Project Coordination:

- Work closely with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, electrical, etc.) to ensure integrated and coordinated designs.

- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and safety assessments to address potential issues early in the design process.

5. Material Specification preparation:

- Specify piping materials, valves, and other components based on project specifications and standards.

6. Quality Control and Compliance:

- Ensure that all piping designs comply with relevant codes and standards, such as ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, DIN and others.

- Review vendor drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with design specifications.

7. Erection Support:

- Provide technical support during the construction phase, including resolving design issues, making on-site adjustments, and reviewing erection progress.

- Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and documentation.

8. Documentation and Reporting:

- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design calculations, reports, and technical specifications.

- Provide regular updates to engineering managers and stakeholders on the progress of the design.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree or Diploma in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.

- Experience: 4-5 years of experience in piping design or a related field.

- Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in 3D modeling and piping design software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor).

- Knowledge of piping stress analysis tools (e.g., CAESAR II, Nastran).

- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, DIN).

- Soft Skills:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

- Flexible & willing to travel
