The Vice President - Business Planning will be responsible for overseeing and guiding the strategic planning processes. This role entails leading cross-functional efforts to assess opportunities, optimize resource allocation, and develop business models that foster sustainable growth.
The VP will work closely with senior leadership to align business plans with the company's long-term vision and market dynamics, ensuring SpiceJet maintains its competitive edge in the aviation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Forecasting:
- Lead the annual and long-term strategic planning processes, aligning with organizational goals and industry trends.
- Drive market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats to SpiceJet's business model.
- Develop and present comprehensive business plans that outline growth objectives, financial projections, and risk mitigation strategies.
Financial Modeling & Analysis:
- Oversee the development of financial models to evaluate revenue growth, cost structures, and capital expenditures.
- Conduct sensitivity analyses, profitability assessments, and scenario planning to optimize the financial outcomes of strategic initiatives.
- Ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting aligned with company performance and market conditions.
Operational Efficiency & Optimization:
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and commercial teams to improve operational efficiency and drive cost-saving initiatives.
- Identify and implement best practices in fleet utilization, route optimization, and workforce planning.
- Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to profitability and productivity.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner with stakeholders across departments to integrate business planning efforts and streamline cross-functional initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between senior leadership, board members, and departmental heads to ensure alignment on strategic priorities and resource allocation.
- Facilitate open communication channels to promote an environment of collaboration and shared ownership of business goals.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Develop risk management frameworks to assess and address potential challenges in market conditions, regulatory requirements, and operational dependencies.
- Work closely with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all planning initiatives comply with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Proactively identify areas of potential disruption, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on business operations.
Project Management & Execution:
- Oversee the end-to-end management of strategic initiatives, ensuring timely execution and measurable outcomes.
- Define project scopes, set timelines, and monitor progress against milestones to ensure successful implementation.
- Drive accountability and performance across teams, with a focus on delivering projects within budget and on schedule.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring:
- Establish key metrics and performance indicators to monitor and report on the effectiveness of business plans.
- Regularly update senior management and the board with progress reports, insights, and recommended adjustments.
- Use data analytics and reporting tools to provide actionable insights and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: MBA, CA, or equivalent advanced degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years in strategic planning, business analysis, or a similar leadership role within the aviation.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience in leading business planning initiatives and working with cross-functional teams to drive large-scale projects.
- Analytical Expertise: Strong financial acumen and proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and performance metrics.
