Job Title: Consultant Surgical Oncologist

Job Summary:
The Consultant Surgical Oncologist is responsible for providing specialized surgical care to patients with various types of cancer. The role involves diagnosing, planning, and performing surgical interventions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. The consultant is also expected to contribute to research, training, and the continuous improvement of oncological surgical practices.

Key Responsibilities

1) Clinical Duties:

• Diagnose and assess patients with oncological conditions requiring surgical intervention.
• Plan and perform oncological surgeries following established guidelines and best practices.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care to optimize patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with medical and radiation oncologists to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of surgical procedures and recommend further treatments when necessary.
• Participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary meetings.

2) Patient Care & Management:

• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction throughout the treatment process.
• Provide clear explanations to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, risks, and expected outcomes.
• Address complications, emergencies, and postoperative concerns in a timely manner.

3) Teaching & Research:

• Supervise and train junior doctors, surgical residents, and medical students.
• Engage in clinical research and contribute to scientific publications.
• Stay updated with advancements in surgical oncology and integrate new techniques into practice.
• Participate in medical conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) programs.

4)Quality Assurance & Compliance:

• Adhere to hospital policies, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
• Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and surgical outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.

5) Administrative & Leadership Duties:

• Assist in developing protocols and policies related to surgical oncology.
• Contribute to hospital strategic planning and service development.
• Act as a mentor and leader within the surgical oncology team.
• Collaborate with hospital management in resource allocation and budget planning for oncology services.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: MBBS/MD /MS/MCh (Surgical Oncology) or equivalent recognized by the medical board.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-5 years of post-specialization experience in surgical oncology.
• Licensing: Must be a registered medical practitioner with a valid practicing license in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Certifications: Board certification or equivalent in Surgical Oncology.
