Clinical Evaluation: Neurologists perform thorough clinical evaluations of patients who present with neurological symptoms. They take detailed medical histories and conduct physical and neurological examinations to identify potential issues.
Diagnostic Testing: Neurologists may order and interpret various diagnostic tests, such as neuroimaging (like MRI and CT scans), electroencephalograms (EEGs), electromyography (EMG), and nerve conduction studies to aid in the diagnosis of neurological conditions.
Treatment: Once a diagnosis is made, neurologists develop and implement treatment plans. Treatment options may include medications, physical therapy, lifestyle changes, and, in some cases, surgical interventions.
Neurological Disorders: Neurologists address a wide range of neurological disorders, including but not limited to:
Headaches and migraines Seizures and epilepsy Stroke Multiple sclerosis Alzheimer's disease and other dementias Parkinson's disease Peripheral neuropathies Neuromuscular disorders Movement disorders Brain and spinal cord injuries Brain tumors Research: Some neurologists are involved in clinical research to advance the understanding and treatment of neurological conditions. MD/DNB in Medicine with DM/DNB in Neurology Minimum 3+ years of experience preferred.
