Role purpose
The Content Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining content management systems (CMS) and digital content workflows to support our market leading domestic higher education search websites and apps. You will work cross-teams to ensure a seamless and efficiency omni-channel delivery of relevant and engaging content to our diverse audience of students, educators and partners.
Key accountabilities
CMS Development and Customization: Design, develop, and customize headless CMS platforms to meet the unique requirements of IDP s web and app platforms. Implement features and functionalities to enhance content creation, editing and publishing workflows.
Content Modelling and Structuring Define content models and taxonomies that align with our business objectives and audience preferences. Structure content in a modular and reusable format to facilitate content reuse, personalization and localization. Leading the migration from legacy CMS to headless content management system.
Workflow Automation: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline content workflows, from content creation and approval to publishing and distribution. Implement workflow automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce time-to-market for content updates.
Content and Integration Syndication : Integrate content with external systems, databases and APIs to ensure seamless content distribution and syndication across multiple channels and platforms. Implement data connectors and APIs to enable content interoperability and integration with any partner systems.
Metadata management and optimization: Define metadata schemas and tagging strategies to enhance content discoverability, searchability and relevance. Implement metadata management solutions to improve SEO performance and drive organic traffic to our digital properties.
Performance Optimization: Optimize content delivery performance and scalability to ensure fast and reliable access to digital content for users worldwide. Implement caching strategies and other performance optimization techniques to enhance user experience and reduce page load times.
Content Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes and standards to ensure content accuracy, consistency, and compliance with brand guidelines. Perform content audits and reviews to identify and rectify issues related to content quality and integrity.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content creators, designers, developers, and marketing specialists, to gather requirements, define content strategies, and deliver solutions that meet business objectives and user needs. Engage with stakeholders to solicit feedback and ensure alignment throughout the content development lifecycle.
Required experience
Demonstrable experience in content engineering and working effective as part of enterprise content teams
Significant experience and expertise in leading content modelling and implementing effectively in headless content management systems
Experience of successfully planning and leading migrations from traditional to headless content management systems including effective user education, scripting and testing
Strong experiencing leading content operations leveraging automation and technology to deliver quality at scale with efficiency
Proven experience in headless Content Management System (CMS) development and customisation
Strong proficiency in web and mobile app technologies, including HTML, CSS, Javascript, React/Angular and server-side scripting languages. (e.g. PHP, Python)
Significant experience implementing, configuring and optimising headless CMS platforms such as Contentful to deliver outcomes and a great experience for internal users
Familiarity with content delivery networks (CDNs), SEO best practices and web and app performance optimisation techniques.
Ability to work effectively in a global matrix environment
