JOB DESCRIPTION (DETAILED)
Manage the full lifecycle of Windows server systems, including setup, upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Configure and oversee user access, roles, and permissions to ensure the integrity and security of the infrastructure.
- Regularly update and patch servers to maintain system health and reduce vulnerabilities.
- Continuously monitor system performance using industry-standard tools to identify and address potential bottlenecks.
- Analyze system logs, monitor resource utilization, and fine-tune system parameters for optimal performance.
- Implement and manage proactive alerting systems to prevent downtime or performance degradation.
- Design and apply security measures such as firewalls, antivirus programs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Conduct routine audits and vulnerability assessments to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to respond swiftly to security incidents and breaches.
- Establish and maintain robust backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
- Regularly test disaster recovery plans and document results to ensure systems can be restored quickly in emergencies.
- Develop and maintain recovery scripts and plans for automated failover and data protection.
- Create, test, and deploy PowerShell or other script-based solutions for automating repetitive tasks
such as user management, server configurations, and log analysis.
- Develop tools that streamline processes and enhance the efficiency of daily operations.
- Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance; Perform network and security audits
- Perform and test routine system backups and restores
- Create required reports in response to business user needs
- Providing technical guidance, training, and leadership for current and new operations and engineering personnel
- Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
- Performing script verification checks, reviewing event logs, reviewing back logs, training, and documentation maintenance
- Recognizing and recommending new or emerging technology or software to satisfy functional requirements and processes
- Providing a high quality, secure, and resilient that supports the customer's business needs
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Create and maintain quality documentation to assist fellow IT staff with supporting end users
- Perform administration tasks and configuration changes via the Office 365 portal and PowerShell
- Create and deliver training to IT staff and/or end users on new or existing features to boost productivity and streamline the business
- Performs disaster recovery exercises
- Provide mentoring and guidance to less senior team members on new tasks and assignments.
