Senior Database Administrator - MS SQL (7-10 yrs)

Job Overview :

- We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in both SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and Azure Cosmos DB.

- The ideal candidate will focus on database design, performance optimization, security, and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.

- Experience with SQL Managed Instance is crucial, as the role requires a deep understanding of its limitations, benefits, and use cases.

- You will manage, optimize, and secure databases while recommending technologies and tools to meet evolving project requirements. Azure Managed instance experience is must

Responsibilities :

- Design, implement, and manage database architecture for both relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases, with a focus on security.

- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and other performance-enhancing techniques.

- Plan and execute data migrations across different database platforms while minimizing downtime.

- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities(HA/DR) across all database systems, designing failover solutions and conducting regular tests.

- Evaluate, recommend, and implement appropriate database technologies, tools, and platforms based on project-specific needs.

- Collaborate with development teams to provide database solutions that support application performance, scalability, and security.

- Manage and optimize relational databases (MS SQL) and NoSQL databases (Azure Cosmos DB) for various workloads.

- Ensure compliance with security standards and implement data protection measures, including encryption and access control.

- Oversee ETL/ELT processes, ensuring efficient data integration and transformation for analytics and reporting.

- Support Data Analytics initiatives by ensuring smooth database operations for reporting tools.

- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of database designs, configurations, and security policies.

- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior DBAs, sharing best practices for database management, performance optimization, and security.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

- 6+ years of experience in database administration, management, performance engineering with expertise in MS-SQL databases.

- Strong hands-on experience with MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and Azure Cosmos DB.

- Expertise in implementing database designs (relational and non-relational) and security architecture, ensuring data integrity and protection.

- Deep understanding of database performance optimization, query tuning, and indexing techniques.

- Proven experience with data migrations, high availability setups, and disaster recovery planning and execution.

- Experience in evaluating and recommending appropriate database technologies, tools, and platforms based on project-specific requirements.

- Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and hands-on experience with data analytics and reporting tools.

- Strong understanding of database security, including encryption, authentication, and access control.

- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database-related issues.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and analysts.

- Azure Managed instance experience is must

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with cloud-based database solutions, particularly on Azure.

- Familiarity with database automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.

- Experience with reporting tools like Power BI or Tableau.
