Develop and implement the objectives of different curriculum offered in GSIS
Contribute to the development of curriculum (the production and ongoing review of units and/or schemes of work), ensuring both diversity and inclusivity are incorporated to student learning experiences
Prepare unit plan in accordance with the aims and objectives of the IB/IG/ICSE curriculum and the nature of Chemistry stream
The lesson experiences and unit plans should have the provision for the completion of the entire syllabus and sufficient time should be reserved for revision work
Prepare leasson plan in advance for any class in a structured format which should include the learning objectives, content specification, inquiry/focus questions, teaching methodology, learning resources, learning engagement, assessement and assignment
Develop well-designed and learner-centered learning engagements
Implement inquiry-based teaching and learning to convey knowledge, conceptual understandings and required skills to the students and respond to student inquiries and provide meaningful advice
Providing clear structures for lessons ensuring pace, motivation and challenge are maintained
II. Teaching Approach:
Create a warm fostering environment in the classroom that facilitates learning
Ensure that students are engaged in meaningful learning experiences
Provide the knowledge of terms, concepts, processes, techniques and principles related to the subject
Develop the ability to apply the knowledge of contents and principles of chemistry in unfamiliar situations
Impart skills to acquire skills in proper handling of apparatus and chemicals
Develop scientific temper, attitude and problem solving skills
Recognize Chemical Science as having an important impact on the environment relating to cycles in nature; natural resources, pollution
Build an awareness of the need to effectively collaborate and communicate
Apply language skills and knowledge in a variety of real-life contests
Develop sensitivity towards the living and non-living environments
Reflect on learning experiences and make informed choices
Use effective questioning, listen carefully to students, give attention to errors and misconception
Have a creative and enthusiastic approach both inside and outside the classroom
Mentor and nurture students by providing appropriate guidance, motivation and intellectual support
Support students socially, emotionally and academically
Establish and maintain effective classroom management through connection, consistency and compassion
The activities / project work and experiences need to be adapted keeping in view the individual differences among children and their innate potentials, as well as the students with special needs
Remedial classes should be taken to strengthen the students learning wherever required
Maintain high ethical standards and display integrity at all times
A variety of teaching strategies supporting the development of ATL skills are to be included for facilitating a holistic view of taught curriculum (ATL skills include - Communication, Thinking, Social, Self-management, Research)
Coach and mentor students for interhouse and interschool competition
III. Experiential Learning:
Sound understanding of the content and structure of the Economics curriculum at the school such as Econometric, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International and Development Economics
Have demonstrated high level of competence in classroom teaching
Conviction in student led classroom pedagogy in the teaching using real life contemporary world issues and abreast of developments in the field of Economics .
IV. Assessement and Feedback:
Plan and implement effective assessment for/of learning which enhances outcomes for students
Assess students and provide both formative and summative evaluations
Design programme tests and assessment tasks as required
Summative assessment for IB/ICSE students to be planned based on the learning objectives
Formative assessments are to be planned in accordance with the nature of the subject and implemented in a systematic manner to help students identify their strengths and weaknesses and target areas that need focus
Corrections of assessments and homework given in the Managebac
Closely monitor the student projects and guide them until completion
Provide oral and written feedback to students and other stakeholders
Update the current status of the unit completion to the parallel teachers, head of the department and the section coordinator
Work collaboratively with other school teachers to plan technology-based projects and cross-curricular units to enrich the student learning
Receive and implement the feedback received from the section coordinator and the head of the department
Evaluate and review their own teaching methods, materials and unit plans and make changes as appropriate
Teachers performance shall be measure based on the evidence of student\s knowledge, conceptual understanding and skills developed during the teaching and learning process
