General Manager - Finance Finance

Roles and Responsibilities

The Controllership Manager performs a wide range of duties that may include, but are not limited to:

Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements, including working with external auditors for internal, external and SOX audits
Managing the budget process - Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Complies with statutory and legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees including coaching, counselling, monitoring and appraising job results.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES: The more common skills and attributes that are needed for this role may include:

Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting and audit experience
Significant analytical skillset, including the utilisation of BI and reporting tools
Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships
Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
High level of commercial acumen
Advanced computer software skills, including writing macros in Excel and other accounting packages
Professional qualification such as CA or CPA or CFA
Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
Experience with financial reporting requirements
