Senior Shopify Developer - eCommerce Website (6-8 yrs)

Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Senior Shopify Developer to join our dynamic development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performing Shopify stores for clients.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, designers, and marketing teams, to deliver seamless, innovative, and user-friendly eCommerce solutions.

The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of Shopify's platform, including its features, API integrations, and app customizations, and a proven track record of delivering successful projects.

Key Responsibilities :

Shopify Store Development :

- Design, develop, and implement custom Shopify themes and apps for clients, ensuring high-quality and responsive eCommerce solutions.

- Customize and extend existing Shopify themes and functionality to meet business requirements.

- Work on creating and implementing complex Shopify features, including third-party integrations, API integrations, and custom Shopify apps.

Client Collaboration :

- Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs, translate those into technical requirements, and develop solutions that meet those needs.

- Provide technical guidance and support to clients throughout the project lifecycle and after the project is live.

- Work with project managers and designers to ensure that the project is delivered on time and within scope.

Shopify API Integrations :

- Implement and manage Shopify's API integrations with third-party services such as payment gateways, inventory management systems, shipping tools, and other applications.

- Troubleshoot and resolve API integration issues, ensuring smooth communication between Shopify and external platforms.

Performance Optimization :

- Ensure that the Shopify stores are optimized for speed, scalability, and security, providing the best possible user experience.

- Conduct regular performance reviews and implement strategies for optimization, including reducing page load times and improving overall store functionality.

Code Quality & Best Practices :

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that adheres to Shopify best practices and coding standards.

- Conduct code reviews to ensure the quality of development and adherence to the standards set by the team.

- Stay up-to-date with new Shopify features, updates, and trends, and incorporate them into development processes when relevant.

Troubleshooting & Support :

- Provide ongoing support to clients, addressing any issues or bugs with Shopify stores and ensuring the stability of live stores.

- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including custom theme issues, integrations, and compatibility problems with third-party apps.

Team Collaboration & Mentorship :

- Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team, including designers, project managers, and QA engineers.

- Mentor and guide junior Shopify developers, providing technical support and sharing knowledge to help them grow in their roles.

- Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions to contribute ideas and improvements for development processes and new features.

Key Skills & Competencies :

Shopify Expertise :

- In-depth experience with Shopify Liquid, Shopify Plus, and Shopify APIs.

- Proven track record of developing, customizing, and maintaining Shopify stores and Shopify themes.

- Familiarity with Shopify's admin API, Storefront API, and REST API.

- Experience integrating third-party applications and services with Shopify, including payment gateways, shipping carriers, and inventory systems.

Front-End Development :

- Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery for building responsive and interactive eCommerce websites.

- Experience with CSS preprocessors like SASS or LESS and front-end frameworks like Bootstrap or Foundation.

Back-End Development :

- Experience with Shopify's back-end framework and server-side programming languages.

- Familiarity with Node.js, Ruby on Rails, or other back-end languages used in conjunction with Shopify development.

eCommerce Best Practices :

- Strong understanding of eCommerce best practices, UX/UI design principles, and SEO for eCommerce sites.

- Experience with optimizing Shopify stores for mobile responsiveness, speed, and security.

Problem-Solving & Debugging :

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues related to Shopify stores, apps, and integrations.

- Experience in identifying bottlenecks, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities.

- Version Control & Collaboration Tools

- Proficiency with Git for version control and familiarity with GitHub or Bitbucket for collaboration and code management.

- Experience with project management tools like JIRA, Trello, or similar platforms for task tracking and team collaboration.

Communication & Client Interaction

- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and provide guidance on the best practices for Shopify development.

Qualifications :

- Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

- Experience : 5+ years of hands-on experience in Shopify development, including theme customization, API integrations, and Shopify Plus development.

- Certifications : Shopify development certifications are a plus.
