Job Description:
- Fasal is looking for an experienced & seasoned leader who can develop and scale the fresh output (Fresh and downstream value added products) Spearhead the Growth Strategy, Operations and the overall P&L for the Faysal output vertical.
Business strategy formulation and execution:
- Understand the elements that make Fasal unique and ability to link this unique value proposition to market opportunities in Fresh and downstream product segments.
- Create a vision of what the business will look like in 3 and 5 years. Stake a claim on that future and work backwards to understand the capability gap across people, products, and processes.
- Prepare a road map to that vision of success with clearly detailed phased outcomes, enablers, and asks from various teams across the company.
- Translate the road map into annual AOPs with clearly defined tactical and execution elements, and desired outcomes.
- Ability to create and link up systems, processes and people to achieve this AOP understanding the risks and opportunities and institutionalise them.
Tactical strategy formulation and execution:
- Execute the AOP - understand the levers to success and when to activate which.
- Do cost-benefit evaluations of tactical plays to ensure we maximize return on investment and repeatability.
Lead teams:
- Ability to build and articulate vision and align the teams to work together is critical to this role.
- This role will handle 6-8 functional heads. Build and lead high performing teams.
- Understand the 5 phases of team development and lead teams through the phases to minimize unproductive conflict and disruptiveness.
- Identify an optimum org structure for each year of the business strategy plan.
- Define KRAs and reward structures for team members.
- Identify career paths for key team members including training and development needs. Get budgets for the T&D and coordinate with HR to execute.
- Motivate the teams using SMART goals and enhance engagement levels across levels.
Strong process orientation:
- Bring a strong risk-mindset to the table and evaluate each activity in our value chain from a perspective of "what can go wrong". Identify and quantify the risks, and prepare mitigation plans.
- Identify processes which will reduce risk, or enhance productivity / efficiency.
Create and implement processes and systems which will:
- Mitigate the risks inherent in the business and enable growth in a sustained manner.
- Enable the business to run seamlessly and accurately.
- Engage with other key teams to develop operational tech via build - buy models.
- Ability to stitch business processes and evaluate their evolution.
Financial acumen:
- Manage the end to end P&L including top-line, bottom-line and all elements in-between.
- Deep understanding of margins, working capital, cost structures across value chains.
- Identify key financial metrics to track, and analyze variances at specific time intervals.
- Analyze the P&L every week and identify causes of variance and their remedies. Convert these into actionables items and execute to effect.
- Understand the investment required in the business from a cash flow perspective. Identify optimum levels of investment required and actively manage cash flows at optimum levels. Manage the provisions in the balance sheet basis the requirements of the business.
Data management:
- Identify critical metrics needed to track and grow the business profitably.
- Create data structures to accurately capture and analyze the internal and external (market) data to draw information from the data.
- Make inferences from the information and convert into actionables items and execute to effect.
- Run an efficient MIS system to optimize real-time, relevant, quick decision making.
Decision making:
- Approach decision making with a structured thought process - identify facts at hand, possible courses of actions and their implications, cost-benefits, and take quick, informed decisions.
- Monitor outcomes and course-correct basis new information gleaned, variances of actual outcomes from desired ones, and changes in the operating environment.
Strong, relentless focus on seamless execution:
- Be hands-on at the ground level. Make regular field & market visits to understand perceived vs actual reality, and to motivate and engage with the team.
Strategic project management:
- Identify tactical (short term) opportunities in their region, prepare plan, and execute marketing, schemes to drive sales.
- Identify strategic opportunities in their region, prepare, plan, and execute - marketing, branding, schemes to drive sales.
- Convert tactical and strategic initiatives and actions into projects and run them based on good project management practices (time, cost, quality, BAC, TTC).
Stakeholder management:
- Develop relationships with critical stakeholders in the company & at the board level.
- Create stakeholder engagement and communication plans and execute them.
- Engage with other key teams for tech development.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong experience and understanding of Agriculture supply chain links originating at farms (farmers, procurement systems, farming systems, logistics, distribution etc).
- MBA from category A business schools and experience of running at least a 40-50 million dollar PnL and subsequent understanding of processes, systems, people orientation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with professionals at all organizational levels.
- The inclination and past experience of leveraging technology as a tool for all service offerings.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and constantly growing environment.
