ERNAKULAM MEDICAL CENTRE is looking for Neonatology Fellow to join our dynamic team and embark on a rewarding career journey A neonatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the care of newborn infants, especially those born prematurely or with medical conditions that require intensive medical attention
The neonatologist works closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the well-being of newborns and provides medical expertise in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) or special care nurseries
Key Responsibilities:Medical Assessment and Diagnosis:Conduct thorough medical assessments of newborns, including physical examinations and diagnostic tests
Diagnose and treat medical conditions affecting newborns, such as respiratory distress syndrome, infections, congenital anomalies, and other neonatal disorders
NICU Care:Provide specialized care to newborns in the NICU
Manage and monitor premature infants and critically ill newborns
Collaborate with nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans
Medical Procedures:Perform or oversee medical procedures, such as intubation, ventilation, and other interventions as necessary
Administer medications and therapies to infants as prescribed
Collaboration and Communication:Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including pediatricians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care
Communicate effectively with parents or guardians, explaining medical conditions, treatment plans, and expected outcomes
Education and Training:Provide education and support to parents regarding the care and development of their newborns
Train and supervise medical residents, fellows, and other healthcare staff involved in neonatal care
Research:Engage in or contribute to research activities related to neonatology
Stay abreast of advancements in neonatal medicine and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care
Emergency Response:Respond to neonatal emergencies and provide immediate medical intervention when required
