Network Automation Engineer

The Network Engineer develops designs for existing and new infrastructure platforms or enabling services for consumption by our Alliance platforms. This role is responsible for the build or configuration of infrastructure/service platforms across the enterprise (including on premise, co-location and/or Cloud) and transition of operations to appropriate consuming Alliances. This role will develop a roadmap and catalog for each service to denote new capabilities and end of support/end of service for deprecated services in line with business requirements.

What you will do

• Maintenance and administration of networks and related support systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to systems and networks

• Participate in off hours maintenance activities, be On-Call , during which the employee is responsible for answering Network related calls on their cell phone; calls are treated as emergencies and must be handled immediately

• Implementation of complex network infrastructure solutions

• Create and maintain IT documentation

What experience you need

• BS or Associates Degree/Technical Certification or equivalent job experience required

• 2-5 years experience in networking and related support systems

• Demonstrated knowledge in IP network support and networking concepts such as TCP/UDP Protocols, ICMP, VLANS, routing, subnetting, etc.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with routers, switches, and load balancers

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with various network tools (SolarWinds, etc.)

• Availability to participate in 24x7x365 on-call rotation and have the ability to work flexible hours as needed including nights and weekends as required to complete projects and configuration changes without impacting business hours

• Cloud Certification Strongly Preferred
• Scripting and Programming: Proficiency in scripting languages Python and Shell is crucial for automating network tasks and configurations.
• Automation Tools: Familiarity with network automation frameworks and tools such as Terraform, Jenkins and Ansible is crucial for managing large-scale network environments efficiently.
• APIs: Understanding how to interact with network devices and systems through APIs is key to enabling seamless integration and automation.
• Data Structures and Algorithms: Knowledge of data structures and algorithms helps in developing efficient and optimized automation solutions.
• Linux/Unix: Comfort with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line interfaces is required for working with network automation tools and platforms.
• Cloud Technologies: Experience with GCP and/or AWS cloud platforms and services including cloud scripting (gcloud) and cloud APIs.
• Version Control: Understanding version control systems such as Git is crucial for managing and tracking changes in automation scripts and configurations.
