Role & responsibilities

Production Planning

1. Develop and implement production plans based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and inventory levels.

2. Create detailed production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of products.

3. Coordinate with sales, marketing, and procurement teams to align production plans with customer needs and material availability.

4. Plan material requirements, ensuring the right amount of inventory for production while minimizing excess stock.

Resource Allocation & Optimization:

1. Ensure efficient utilization of resources (machines, labor, materials) to meet production goals.

2. Identify potential bottlenecks in the production process and recommend solutions to resolve them.

3. Develop and monitor capacity planning to ensure the production schedule is achievable with available resources.

Production Monitoring:

1. Track and monitor production progress against the schedule, adjusting plans as necessary.

2. Manage any production delays or disruptions by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

3. Coordinate with the shop floor team to address any issues related to machine breakdowns, delays, or quality problems.

Inventory Management:

1. Monitor and control inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess.

2. Work closely with the procurement team to ensure the timely availability of materials required for production.

3. Manage the flow of raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products within the production facility.

Quality Control:

1. Ensure that production processes meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.

2. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues or defects in the manufacturing process.

3. Develop and implement corrective actions if production quality falls below standards.

Cost Management:

1. Assist in managing production costs by optimizing the use of materials, labor, and equipment.

2. Identify opportunities for cost savings in production without compromising on quality or deadlines.

3. Analyze production data to identify areas of improvement and cost reduction.

Reporting & Documentation:

1. Maintain accurate production reports, including production schedules, inventory levels, and machine performance.

2. Provide regular updates to management on production performance, potential risks, and improvement opportunities.

3. Document and maintain records of production plans, changes, and outcomes for traceability.

Continuous Improvement:

1. Identify areas for improvement within the production planning and control processes.

2. Implement lean manufacturing techniques and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure continuous improvement in production workflows.

Collaboration with Other Departments:

1. Work closely with the engineering, maintenance, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.

2. Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, and control in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of production processes, materials management, and inventory control.
• Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP, , Microsoft Excel)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under pressure.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional coordination.
