The General Manager - Lean Leader & Manufacturing Excellence will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operations. The role will focus on implementing lean methodologies, optimizing production processes, and ensuring operational excellence to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency. The GM will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies that align with the company's goals for efficiency and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lean Transformation:
- Lead the development and implementation of lean manufacturing principles and practices across all production units.
- Drive lean tools like Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, TPM, SMED, and value stream mapping to eliminate waste and enhance efficiency.
- Provide training, coaching, and support to plant leadership and shop floor teams on lean methodologies.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and analyze areas for improvement in productivity, quality, safety, and cost.
- Develop and execute continuous improvement projects focused on reducing lead time, cycle time, and operational bottlenecks.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing excellence initiatives.
Process Optimization:
- Drive process standardization and harmonization across production lines to ensure uniformity and consistency.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve the overall production process, from raw material procurement to product delivery.
- Ensure implementation of best-in-class manufacturing practices to optimize throughput, reduce defects, and enhance product quality.
Cost Management:
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process optimization and waste elimination.
- Lead efforts to improve energy efficiency, material utilization, and equipment maintenance.
- Oversee budgeting and resource allocation for lean and manufacturing excellence initiatives.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of lean and continuous improvement professionals.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement among employees.
- Conduct workshops, training sessions, and improvement campaigns to build lean capabilities across the organization.
Project Management:
- Lead major improvement projects in collaboration with the production, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with senior leadership to prioritize and align manufacturing excellence initiatives with business goals.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality management systems.
- Promote a culture of safety and adherence to operational health and safety protocols.
Key Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Operations/Manufacturing or a related field. A Master's degree in Business/Operations or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focusing on lean manufacturing and operational excellence.
- Strong experience in leading lean transformations in large-scale manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and cost through lean initiatives.
Skills:
- Expertise in lean methodologies and tools (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma, 5S, TPM).
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
