Job Description

Job Summary

In this highly visible position, the primary responsibility will be to direct the plant quality function in the effort to develop, implement, and maintain world-class quality systems that ensure reduction in the cost of quality and that meet/exceed customer requirement. Maintain production processes and products quality, Analyze and Improve processes and products quality, customer service support, help achieve plant goals.

Essential Functions

Maintain & improve the quality work compliance with Eaton Quality Management Systems (EQMS) and IATF16949 criteria.
Driving improvement projects using Problem Solving Tools (8D, A3, 4M Improvement & Six Sigma) for Zero Defect.
Promote Industry 4.0, strengthening Manufacturing processes aiming at error proofing & drive Continuous Improvement
Ensures that customer requirements are met, simultaneously understanding changing needs of customers and driving actions to satisfy those needs pertaining to quality function.
Defining long term strategy, actions and timely implementation of determined actions
Risk assessment - SWOT analysis for quality function & closure of associated actions.
Driving corrective actions against non-conformities observed during customer audits, Mfg., process audits, product audit, internal & external QMS audits & layout inspection.
Overall administration of Plant Quality Function, providing direction and support for Smooth functioning of Receiving, Process, Customer Quality

Non-Technical:

Time management, prioritizing quality projects, dealing with human resource concerns, and driving resolution of problems and people concerns.
External communication with customers, good interpersonal skills required.
Dealing with Unionized workforce

Functional Competencies

Quality Leadership
Knowledge of quality management systems and support practices. This competency includes the ability to assess performance, set strategy aligned with the business and use metrics to drive continuous improvements efficiently and effectively.

Analytical / Statistical Tools & Methods:

The knowledge of a wide range of problem-solving tools and methods, including statistics, combined with the ability to select and apply them to make data-based decisions to sustain higher levels of process or product quality.

External Requirements:

Knowledge, practice and application of the Product / Process and Quality System standards of the International Certification Bodies, Industry specific Regulatory Authorities and Customers contractually specified Quality Requirements.
Product / Process Quality Planning
Product/Process Quality Planning (Advanced Quality Planning; AQP), the ability to strategically define the Critical to Quality elements of a product/process, and the knowledge to effectively analyze, assess and mitigate the risks associated with any potential failures.
Inspection & Testing:
Ability to use proven tools, techniques, and methodologies to inspect products, measure process performance, perform product verification and validation testing, and to provide feedback reporting as required. This competency is utilized within the framework of the measurement, analysis and improvement aspects of the quality management system.
Product and Process Knowledge
Has a broad-based knowledge of the product and its manufacturing process.

Additional Information

This position requires leadership, communication, training, facilitation and interpersonal skills well developed to effectively perform its essential functions.
This position requires up to 10% of travel domestically.
This position requires well developed Digital Mindset & Skills to perform its essential functions.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor s Degree in Engineering from a reputed institute required
Experience: 15 - 18 years experience in manufacturing and quality function environment (Preferably Gear/Transmissions Manufacturing Industry). Knowledge of machining, assembly operations, gauging, process capability, and quality assurance systems (IATF 16949). Lead Quality Auditor experience. Extensive knowledge and experience with AIAG Core Tools (SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, QSA). preferred.
Preferred Training: Six Sigma, Project management, Interpersonal Communications and Leadership Skills Development.
Recommended Credentials: Problem solving through 8-D using Fishbone and Why-Why analysis, knowledge of Six Sigma preferred.
