We are seeking a highly motivated ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) expert to conduct comprehensive ecological analyses and design targeted green infrastructure plans in Bengaluru. The candidate will also assist the team in integrating nature-based solutions (NbS) into climate adaptation strategies, policies, and programmes.
Responsibilities
Undertake ecological and environmental analysis of blue-green systems and provide ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) approaches to address heat stress and facilitate flood regulation in the city.
Design and formulate EbA-focussed green infrastructure plans at urban ward/zone levels, in alignment with stakeholder feedback.
Develop planning and implementation scenarios (without NbS, alternative NbS, phased NbS, comprehensive NbS) that cater to different urban development models.
Integrate emerging methodologies and policies related to urban ecology, sustainable urban landscape design, and NbS to provide informed input into project strategy.
Produce technical reports, landscape design models, and presentation materials.
Represent the organisation at relevant forums, conferences, and working groups related to urban resilience and climate adaptation
Qualifications
Masters degree in landscape architecture, environmental planning, or a related field.
Experience
5 to 8 years of experience on biodiversity, climate adaptation, and landscape planning.
Proven track record of working on multi-stakeholder projects related to urban ecology projects.
Skill Set
Strong understanding of ecosystem-based approaches to climate risks and adaptation, including practical applications in the urban ecosystem.
Applied knowledge of urban ecology, landscape planning, and ecosystem service evaluation in the context of NbS.
Proficiency in GIS, landscape modelling software (such as ENVI-met, i-Tree, Greenpass, UrbanFootprint), and visualisation tools for urban planning and design.
Familiarity with national and international ecological and biodiversity frameworks such as those developed by the IUCN, CBD, and other relevant bodies.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in producing technical reports and presentations.
Ability to work independently and within a cross-disciplinary team, contributing to innovative urban planning solutions.
