Develop new products and refine existing products
Formulate paint using new technologies
Prepare, test and compare experimental samples.
Substantiate, review and justify conclusions reached by Research and Development department activity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead general product development.
Literature survey and understanding latest developments in emulsions and coatings.
Direct and lead activity exploring new chemical pathways to develop new technologies as per the company strategy.
Knowledge of patents / search engine.
Conduct competitive benchmarking product analyses and develop product development strategies.
Select, test and evaluate new raw materials to determine quality and cost effectiveness of materials.
Substantiate, review and justify conclusions reached by Research and Development department activity.
Direct raw material evaluation tests.
Direct product performance studies.
Solve complex issues relating to polymer systems.
Follow lab safety guidelines and regulations.
Expect high level of self-motivation and excellent communication skills.
Provide leadership and guidance to Junior Chemists and Senior Lab Technicians to include, training and monitoring of performance and in assigning more challenging projects
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Educational attainment equivalent to an advanced degree in Chemistry or related field
Thorough experience in chemical analysis and industrial research applications
Educational attainment equivalent to PhD (Chemistry preferably Organic / Polymer).
Academic Post Doc experience 0-2 Years.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic lab skills.
Knowledge of chemical lab safety guidelines and regulations.
Thorough working knowledge of advanced math and chemistry and their applications
Thorough working knowledge of chemical formulation and composition as applied to research
Knowledge of raw materials and proper equipment to be used in testing practices
Knowledge of production operations and processing methods
Knowledge of quality and process improvement concepts, principles and methodologies
Knowledge of quality control standards and practices
Ability to use a computer and software systems
Ability to train and educate technical personnel in a wide range of technical areas
Ability to solve difficult problems and effectively participate in innovative research
Ability to plan, organize and complete work as scheduled
Ability to maintain laboratory research and testing records
Ability to exercise initiative in designing and implementing independent chemical research
