Diagnosis and Treatment:
Diagnose and treat various kidney diseases such as chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), glomerulonephritis, polycystic kidney disease, and others. Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs, considering factors such as disease severity, underlying causes, and patient preferences. Dialysis Management:
Oversee the management of patients undergoing dialysis (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis), including adjusting dialysis prescriptions, monitoring lab results, and addressing complications. Collaborate with dialysis nurses and technicians to ensure proper dialysis procedures and patient care. Kidney Transplantation:
Evaluate potential kidney transplant recipients and living kidney donors to assess their suitability for transplantation. Participate in the transplantation process, including pre-transplant workup, post-transplant care, and managing immunosuppressive medications. Electrolyte and Fluid Management:
Manage electrolyte imbalances (e.g., sodium, potassium, calcium) and fluid balance disorders, which are common in kidney disease patients. Prescribe appropriate treatments and interventions to restore normal electrolyte and fluid levels. Collaboration and Consultation:
Collaborate with other medical specialists, such as cardiologists, endocrinologists, and primary care physicians, to provide comprehensive care to patients with multiple medical conditions. Consult on complex cases and provide expertise to other healthcare professionals. Research and Education:
Stay updated with the latest developments in nephrology through continuous medical education and participation in research activities. Contribute to medical literature through research studies, publications, and presentations at conferences. Patient Education:
