Assistant Professor

Role & responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum Development:

1. Teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in architecture, including design studios, theory, history, technology, and other related subjects.
2. Develop and update curriculum to meet the changing needs of the profession and the academic program.
3. Mentor and advise students on academic and professional matters.
4. Participate in the development of interdisciplinary coursework and collaborate with other departments within the institution.

Research & Scholarship:

• Conduct independent research in the field of architecture.
• Contribute to the scholarly development of the architecture program through publications, presentations, and participation in academic conferences.
• Collaborate with faculty, students, and external partners on research projects.
• Secure external funding for research activities.

Service & Professional Development:

• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and activities.
• Engage in professional service activities within the academic and architectural communities.
• Participate in accreditation processes and program reviews.
• Maintain and develop professional credentials, including attending conferences and workshops.

Required:

• A Masters degree in Architecture (M.Arch) or equivalent professional degree. A Ph.D. in Architecture or a related field is preferred but not required.
• A demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students at the university level.
• A strong portfolio of professional and/or academic work.
• Evidence of research interest and activity in architectural theory, practice, or related fields.
• Proficiency in relevant design software and digital tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).

Preferred:

• At least 1-2 years of teaching experience at the collegiate level (for a tenure-track assistant professor role).
• Professional licensure from COA (e.g., Registered Architect) is a must.
• Experience with interdisciplinary teaching and collaborative projects.
• Ability to contribute to the development of architectural design and technology programs
