As a Technician in Radiation Oncology, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of radiation therapy treatment to cancer patients. Working under the supervision of radiation oncologists and medical physicists, you will operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, provide patient care, and ensure accurate treatment delivery. Responsibilities: Prepare and position patients for radiation therapy treatments, ensuring their comfort and safety during procedures. Operate and calibrate radiation therapy equipment, such as linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems. Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop treatment plans and ensure accurate radiation dose delivery. Perform quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, including daily machine checks, as well as regular maintenance and troubleshooting. Administer radiation therapy treatments according to prescribed treatment plans, following established protocols and safety guidelines. Monitor patients during treatment sessions, observing for any adverse reactions or complications, and provide necessary support and assistance. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatment parameters, side effects, and other relevant information. Educate patients and their families on the radiation therapy process, potential side effects, and self-care measures during and after treatment. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ensure proper radiation protection measures for patients, staff, and visitors. Stay updated with advancements in radiation therapy technology, treatment techniques, and industry best practices.
