Import Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Import Logistics Management:

Coordinate all aspects of import shipments from order placement to delivery, including freight booking, customs clearance, and inland transportation.

Manage relationships with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and warehouse providers.

Monitor shipment status and proactively address potential delays or disruptions.

Negotiate competitive shipping rates and optimize import logistics costs.

License Management & Relationship Management:

Should have through knowledge on EPCG Advance License management,  SAAS benefits and closures (EoDC)

Should evaluate various methods of foreign trade policies (FTP's) and choose the beneficial ones on need basis.

Identify and manage export benefits and ensure timely realization of Duty draw back, RoDTEP and RoSTEL and evaluate benifits of preferential trade agreements.

Build and maintain strong relationship with customs authorities, DGFT authorities other regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.

Customs Compliance:

Ensure accurate and timely completion of all import documentation, including customs declarations, certificates of origin, and other required paperwork.

Stay updated on evolving customs regulations and ensure compliance with all import laws and procedures.

Manage import duty calculations and identify opportunities for duty reduction.

Follow up with compliances with all FTP related activities with local and central DGFT.

Risk Management:

Identify and mitigate potential import risks, such as trade compliance issues, supplier quality concerns, and geopolitical instability.

Develop and implement contingency plans to address unforeseen disruptions to import operations.

Cost Analysis and Reporting:

Track import costs, including freight, customs duties, and logistics expenses.

Generate comprehensive reports on import performance, identifying areas for cost optimization and process improvement.

Team Leadership:

Lead and mentor a team of import specialists, assigning tasks and providing guidance to ensure smooth operations.

Foster a collaborative work environment and promote continuous improvement within the import team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Thorough understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and Incoterms.

Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers and logistics providers to secure favorable pricing and service levels.

Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis to identify trends and optimize processes.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Proficiency in import/export software and systems.

Desired Skills:

Experience in managing import operations for a specific industry (e.g., manufacturing, apparels & textiles, chemicals)

Knowledge of import compliance requirements in multiple countries

Fluency in multiple languages.
