Key skills for the job
Job Description :
- Specification : Define the behavior and functional requirements of the system. This step involves understanding the system's inputs, outputs, and the operations it must perform.
- Design : Develop the RTL code (usually in VHDL or Verilog) that describes how data moves between registers and the operations that occur. The design will specify how the system reacts to inputs and how it produces outputs.
- Simulation : Test the RTL code using a simulator to ensure that the design behaves as expected. Simulation checks the correctness of the functionality, timing, and performance.
- Synthesis : Synthesize the RTL design into a gate-level representation (using synthesis tools like Xilinx Vivado or Synopsys Design Compiler). This step translates the high-level design into hardware that can be physically implemented.
- Implementation : The synthesized design is then used to generate a physical layout of the hardware (for FPGAs, ASICs, etc.). This step includes placement and routing, and the design is optimized for power, area, and timing.
- Verification : Verify the design's correctness in hardware through various testing methods (e.g., formal verification, hardware-in-loop testing, etc.).
