Job Description
The team lead will be responsible for a) underwriting, analyzing real estate investments and b) managing a team doing the same.
The team lead will play an active role in closing and asset management of the firm s real estate investments.
We are seeking someone who understands the importance of the technical skills relative to underwriting and asset analysis.
Responsibilities :
- Support the global private real estate credit team in underwriting and executing new investments for a wide range of commercial real estate transactions. Investments include senior bridge loans, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity backed by virtually all property types.
- Create and oversee detailed and complex financial valuation and underwriting models for financing real estate investments.
- Perform and direct asset-level and market-level due diligence.
- Develop thorough understanding of a deal s capital structure and business plan and key risks to performance.
- Understand physical characteristics of properties, and the related competitive advantages and disadvantages.
- Understand and critically evaluate the existing and potential operating characteristics of a project (Revenue/Rent Rolls, expenses, capital expenditures, tenant credit, leases).
- Identify a project s demand drivers; gather market information through independent field work. Synthesize information and draw a conclusion on future market rent, absorption, vacancy, and liquidity in the investment market.
- Prepare term sheets and letters of intent
- Communicate conclusions into a comprehensive investment memorandum to be presented to senior management for consideration and approval. Participate in Investment Committee discussions.
- Participate in and provide support for the ongoing asset management of each investment, including major deal level decisions as well as evaluate overall portfolio risks and opportunities
- Review legal documentation in concert with team and counsel throughout the negotiation and closing process
- [Bachelor s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting]
- Chartered Surveyor designation or MAI designation (a plus)
- 8 years of experience in real estate finance
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
