Primary Responsibilities:
This is a pivotal role that ensures the technical excellence and innovation of the company's end-of-line packaging machines. This roles will involve strategic leadership, Engineering oversight, project management, team leadership and development, stakeholder management and Risk management.
Reporting to: Director
Position reporting into this role:
HOD's of Design and Controls department
Technical Skill:
1. Expertise in Automation and Machinery Development:
- Deep knowledge of end-of-line packaging machines and their components.
- Proficiency in designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
2. Proficiency in Automation platforms :
- Knowledge of programming and integrating leading PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Bechoff etc.
- Familiarity with SCADA, HMI programming, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCat, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus).
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, IoT applications, and data analytics in automation.
3. Mechanical and Electrical Design Skills:
- Knowledge of CAD tools for mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of electrical CAD software for designing control panels and systems.
- Understanding of servo motors, drives, pneumatics, hydraulics and motion controllers.
4. R&D and Innovation:
- Ability to conceptualize and implement new technologies in product development.
- Skilled in optimizing product performance, cost, and energy efficiency.
5. Quality and Compliance:
- Familiarity with global standards such as ISO, CE, UL, and safety regulations.
- Strong focus on delivering quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

- Define the technical vision and align it with the company's strategic goals.

2. Machine Development & R&D
- Oversee the design, prototyping, and development of cutting-edge packaging machines.
- Ensure the integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components to meet performance, cost, and quality objectives.
- Lead R&D initiatives to develop next-generation solutions and improve existing products.
3. Engineering Excellence
- Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks.
- Monitor and evaluate product performance to implement continuous improvements.
- Drive the adoption of advanced tools and technologies to enhance efficiency and innovation.
4. Project Management
- Monitor and ensure timely execution of projects with minimal deviation from schedules in design and control department
- Resolve technical and operational challenges during product development.
5. Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training programs to upskill the workforce.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
6. Customer Focus
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to understand client requirements and provide technical guidance.
- Ensure products are designed to meet or exceed customer expectations in performance, reliability, and cost.
- Support after-sales teams in resolving technical issues and improving customer satisfaction.
7. Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the technical department in executive meetings and strategy discussions.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, industry partners, and clients.
- Provide technical leadership during customer presentations, product demonstrations, and negotiations.
8. Financial Oversight
- Manage budgets for the technical department, including R&D and engineering.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in design, manufacturing, and development processes.
9. Innovation and Technology Adoption
- Drive the adoption of IoT, Industry 4.0, and other emerging technologies in packaging solutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends and identify opportunities for technological advancements.
- Benchmark company products and processes against global standards and competitors.
10. Risk Management
- Identify potential risks in product design, development, and delivery.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize impact on timelines and quality.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and industry-specific regulations.
Educational Qualification:
BE Mechanical/Mechatronics/Instrumentation/E&C
Work Experience: 18-22 Years
- 18+ years of experience in similar industries, with at least 5-7 years in senior leadership roles (Sr.Manager/ GM / HOD)
- Proven track record of leading large teams and driving complex engineering projects from concept to completion
- Extensive experience in mechanical design, product development, testing, and manufacturing, with deep knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Experience with advanced design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, electrical software) and engineering simulations
- Handled automations architecture design which includes PLC, HMI, Servos, scada, third party software interaction over API or TCP/IP.
- Experience in industries such as automations, robotics, or industrial manufacturing.
- This role will involve both strategic decision-making and hands-on leadership, requiring a combination of technical expertise and business acumen.
