Role & responsibilities
1. Clinical Care:
1.1. Conduct thorough clinical assessments of critically ill patients.
1.2. Formulate and implement treatment plans in consultation with senior medical staff.
1.3. Perform medical procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and arterial line placement.
1.4. Manage life-support systems, including mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy, and hemodynamic monitoring.
1.5. Continuously monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
1.6. Provide resuscitation and stabilization of patients in emergencies.
2. Collaboration and Communication:
2.1. Work closely with consultants, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other medical specialists.
2.2. Participate in daily multidisciplinary team meetings and handovers.
2.3. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing updates and discussing care plans.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
3.1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and progress notes.
3.2. Ensure timely and thorough completion of all required documentation and reports.
4. Education and Training:
4.1. Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and medical students.
4.2. Participate in ongoing education and training programs, including attending departmental meetings, lectures, and workshops.
Stay current with advances in critical care medicine and incorporate new knowledge into clinical practice.
1. Quality Improvement:
1.1. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the ICU.
1.2. Participate in clinical audits and research projects.
1.3. Implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient care and outcomes.
2. Compliance and Professionalism:
2.1. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
2.2. Comply with legal and ethical standards in the practice of medicine.
2.3. Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to patient-centric care.
3. Working Conditions:
3.1. Hours: The position may require working long and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
3.2. Environment: The role involves working in a high-intensity clinical environment with exposure to critically ill patients.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform tasks that require physical stamina, such as standing for long periods, moving patients, and performing emergency procedures.
