We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Fire and Safety Officer to oversee and manage the fire safety protocols and health & safety regulations within the organization. This role will involve ensuring the safety of all personnel and assets by maintaining a safe working environment, implementing fire prevention measures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with local safety regulations and industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of fire safety systems, emergency procedures, and occupational health & safety regulations.
As the Fire and Safety Officer , you will play a critical role in protecting employees, visitors, and the facility from potential fire hazards and ensuring that health and safety policies are effectively implemented and adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fire Safety Management:
Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, fire code requirements, and best practices.
Develop, implement, and continuously update the organization's fire safety policies and procedures.
Ensure that fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire suppression systems, and other safety equipment are in good working condition and regularly maintained.
Conduct fire drills and emergency evacuation drills regularly, ensuring that all employees are familiar with evacuation procedures.
Establish and maintain fire exit routes, fire alarms, extinguishers, and other fire safety equipment to ensure accessibility and functionality.
Advise management on fire prevention and mitigation strategies, including potential hazards and how to address them.
2. Health and Safety Regulations Compliance:
Monitor and enforce compliance with local and international health, safety, and environmental regulations (OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of safety manuals and compliance reports, ensuring that all safety procedures align with relevant laws and organizational policies.
Ensure the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, and provide recommendations to improve safety standards and prevent recurrence.
3. Training and Awareness:
Provide regular fire safety and health & safety training sessions for employees, ensuring they are aware of safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of fire safety equipment.
Create awareness campaigns to educate staff about the importance of fire safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices.
Maintain records of employee training, certifications, and safety drills.
Promote a safety-conscious culture by encouraging employees to take an active role in preventing accidents and following safety procedures.
4. Emergency Response Planning:
Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring that all staff members are trained and equipped to respond to fire, medical, or environmental emergencies.
Coordinate emergency response efforts in the event of a fire or safety incident, ensuring a quick and effective response while minimizing risk to life and property.
Liaise with emergency services (fire, medical, police) and ensure they have all necessary information to handle emergencies efficiently.
5. Safety Equipment and Maintenance:
Ensure that all safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, fire hoses, smoke detectors, sprinklers, emergency lighting, and first aid kits, are properly maintained and inspected regularly.
Monitor the procurement and installation of fire safety and first aid equipment, ensuring it meets organizational needs and regulatory standards.
Oversee the maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) for workers, ensuring proper use, storage, and regular replacement of damaged or expired equipment.
